WSP USA Inspection Services COVID-19 Update

Due to the COVID-19 nationwide emergency and the need to protect the safety and health of all Americans; FEMA has introduced remote home inspections for disaster survivors until further notice. A remote inspection will be the primary form of inspection for applicants until further notice.

Disaster survivors who applied to FEMA and reported that they may not or cannot live at home due to damage will be contacted by inspectors to schedule and complete a remote inspection.

Some remote inspection requirements:

  • Inspectors must update availability for all types of inspections every 30 days on their WSP webpage, and be marked as “YES” to be considered for activity.
  • This process is currently being used in DR-4473 PR and inspectors report it is running smoothly. Inspections are expected to take 15 to 45 minutes.
  • All work is done from your home. No travel or deployment is necessary.
  • Inspectors must have telephone and internet access, and inspectors need to establish a dedicated workspace where they can perform remote inspections without interruption or distractions. Workplaces should also be private to protect applicant PII from anyone overhearing conversations.
  • Additional training will be provided on an as-needed basis.

Customer service is of utmost importance while conducting these telephone inspections. Applicants need to feel at ease with the process and comfortable with the inspector they are dealing with.

Quality Control will be making calls behind you to insure that inspectors adhered to the script and produced a quality inspection.

Inspectors are expected to communicate finished work back to the office multiple times during the day, and in a timely manner.

Stay safe and healthy,
